Portal Hub privacy policy

Last updated October 19, 2026

Portal Hub is a personal dashboard used by a single household. It is not offered to the public, and only the household that runs it connects accounts to it. The public demo uses sample data only.

What it accesses

With the account owner's permission, Portal Hub reads and controls the household's Google Nest thermostat through Google's Smart Device Management API, their Spotify playback, their smart plugs and their door lock. It reads calendars the household shares with it by private link, and stores photos family members upload.

How data is stored

Sign-in tokens are encrypted and kept in private cloud storage for the household's deployment. Photos are stored privately and are visible only on the household's own display and to family members who have the upload passcode. Device and calendar data is fetched when it is shown and is not kept.

Use of Google user data

Google user data is used only to show and control the household's own thermostat. It is not sold, shared with third parties, used for advertising, or used to train models.

Removing access

Access can be revoked at any time from the Google account's permissions page (myaccount.google.com/permissions), Spotify's app settings, or the device makers' apps. Revoking access stops Portal Hub from reading or controlling that account.
