Portal Hub
Meta stopped supporting the Portal, but the hardware is still a great kitchen screen. Portal Hub turns it into a family dashboard that runs on its own over wifi.

The demo uses sample photos, calendars and weather. Its controls are not connected to any devices.
What it does
- Photo frame. Replaces the Portal's idle screen. Family members upload photos from their phones; portrait photos are paired side by side so every edge is filled.
- Family calendars. Google calendars overlaid in one color-coded agenda and week view. Tap a calendar to see it on its own.
- Weather. Live conditions with animated skies and a 7-day forecast.
- Home controls. The Nest thermostat, Spotify, Kasa smart plugs and a Wyze door lock, on glass tiles.
How it works
The Portal runs Android. Meta enabled developer access on retired Portals, which allowed installing a small app that takes over the screensaver and shows a web dashboard. The dashboard is hosted on Vercel, so updates reach the Portal without plugging it in. Account connections use each company's sign-in, and tokens are encrypted at rest.
