WilPower art therapy clients to present a
festival Friday
Poetry, musical
performance, jewelry and still art will be featured this weekend at
the WilPower Annual Expressive Arts Festival, taking place from 1:30
a.m. until 2 p.m. on Friday at the Heller Nature Center, 636 Ridge
Road, Highland Park.
Judy Perlman, WilPower director, will be honored for her work to
expand the expressive arts programming available to agency
participants. The artists will perform, exhibit and sell their art
work, created in sessions with art therapist Gail Fried.
WilPower is a not-for-profit agency supported by government
funds, fees and contributions from the community. It serves 200
members in its center at 444 Frontage Road, Northfield, and operates
permanent supported housing for 41 members in Glencoe, Morton Grove,
Skokie and Wilmette.
It has provided housing, employment, psychiatric rehabilitation
and recovery services for people with serious mental illness in the
northern suburbs since 1989.
